Faruque is a consultant ENT/Head and Neck Surgeon with an interest and post-FRACS fellowship training in adult and paediatric ENT, head and neck oncology, thyroid/parathyroid and adult airway open/endoscopic laser surgery.
He joined the Westmead ENT/Head Neck team in October 2012 after a period as a consultant in the head and neck team in Cambridge University Hospitals and is also the consultant in charge of the Westmead Tracheostomy Liaison Service.
Faruque commenced his medical degree at UNSW graduating in 2002 with MBBS (Hons 1), obtaining prizes in anatomy and microbiology. He finished basic surgical training in 2005 after obtaining the prize for the highest score for the FRACS part 1 in Australia/NZ.
After a series of rotations in the NSW otolaryngology training scheme, including a senior registrar year at Westmead, he was awarded the FRACS (Oto) in 2010. He then embarked on fellowship training to London and Cambridge focusing on adult airway surgery, oncological surgery and thryoid/parathyroid surgery.
Recently, Faruque has co-convened the first Sydney Head and Neck dissection course and masterclass 2014, the head and neck section of the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian Society of Otolaryngology 2015 and the World Larynx Cancer Congress 2015.
